Medical Drug Treatment Data through Wolfram Alpha

With all the hubbub about Bing and Google, what may be overlooked is that Wolfram Alpha has been consistently adding a lot of data-centric features.

Case in point – Wolfram Alpha recently showed how it is taking NAMCS and NHAMCS data and reparsing it on the fly – allowing users to find an answer to the question “What is the distribution of drugs prescribed for hypertension at the first visit?”  (see screenshot below for how it’s answered & displayed)

As we know, the data isn’t perfect, nor is it entirely understanding of the nuances, but it’s a nice first pass – and arguably easier to use than the source data.
