Tracking Swine Flu? There’s an app for that too.
It shouldn’t come as any surprise, but apparently there are now several applications for the iPhone / iPod Touch for the Swine Flu. The latest comes from IntuApps, known as the “Swine Flu Tracker”. (more here from TechCrunch)
Certainly the proliferation of mobile devices has made it easier to disseminate information – and with the iPod App Store and BlackBerry App Worlds, more applications for our mobile devices will be coming out every day. Which means more ways for our users to get information, even if it’s not through “us” or the “corporate network”.
I’m personally seeing more and more users with iPhones and mobile web Blackberry devices, work sanctioned or not. Which behooves the question – are we making ourselves aware of all the information push possibilities? Are we positioning ourselves as the information expert & guide to help our users make the most of what they have?
Or maybe the better question for us is – do we even have these devices so we can speak from experience rather than ignorance?
